There were three presidents during the 1920's. The first being Woodrow Wilson, who took office in 1913, and ended in 1921. Woodrow was said to be a very progressive man who only wanted what was best for the people. During his service to his country, he convinced congress that the US could no longer stay neutral in the world war and began to take part in WWI. He also created The League of Nation to further prevent another war from occurring. Later in his second term as president, Woodrow at first was unsympathetic, but later became a strong advocate for women suffrage and was a major key to many acts passed; one of which imposed an 8-hour workday for the railroads. Woodrow was a strong supporter of democracy and was know as the man who "kept us out of war".

The 29th President of the United States was Warren G. Harding who was in office from 1921-1923. Harding was a man that pledged to repair America instead of pushing forward to change and revolutionize it. Harding was a man that prided himself in being a good friend rather than a good leader. He did not know much about being the president and had once admitted that the job was above him. The men he hired to his cabinet were capable and honest but he also surrounded himself with liars and cheats who later became known as the "Ohio Gang". Corruption was forming in the government and it all pointed back to the unwise decisions Harding was making. Not only did he have a serious gambling problem, but he also had cheated on his wife with more than one woman. Harding lack of responsibility and poor choices earned him the bad reputation that is still known today. Though he did make many poor decisions or rather avoided making any real decisions at all, he did sign the first federal child welfare program, helped support an eight hour work day, and created The Bureau of The Budget. He also signed a WWI peace treaty with Germany and Austria. Harding later Died of a heart attack when traveling west to inform the people of his policies and try to convince them that he was not corrupting the US.
