Women
Post war fashion gave way for brighter colors and shorter dresses. The fashion was to wear dresses with vibrant colors and short hair. Pearls were also a necessity in this time because it made a fashion statement. Women all around wanted to wear these clothes and even worked at department stores or factories to help reduce prices of the dresses. But even for those that couldn't get to stores, there was always the catalog that show cased the fashion of the season. The flapper look was introduced at this time which consisted of dresses being cut off just below the knee in order to see above the knee while dancing the Charleston. It also had a loose, straight bodice to the main part of the dress.
Since the corsets and the tight bodice was gone, it gave designers more freedom of expression to make the new style. Women's underwear also changed resulting in silk stockings and nicer shoes due to dresses being shorter and the lower areas being able to be seen. The more fashionable women wore matching stockings with their outfits. Out with the old and in with the new, the fashion showed a breaking out stage for women and a new womanhood evolved. It was now exceptable for women to smoke, drink in public, have closer body contact when dancing, makeup, shorter dresses, and going out into the workforce.
